Playas de Tijuana today, foggy in the morning, but warm. Javier and I arrived at Friendship Park about 9:30, met Rocky, and started working on the grounds. Here we see the before and after pictures of the cactus they set upright today, making a total of 6 or 7 that we've liberated! I am amazed at all that has been done along the fence in the three months I was gone. It's beautiful!
There were a lot of people there for Border Church today, but fewer children. Still, the kids who were there liked coloring a lot, and it felt so nice to do it again.
Besides that, I picked up trash, moved a bunch of rocks, and helped serve the meal to people after the service. Javier and Rocky worked crazy hard hauling, setting up, and taking down everything for the service--tarps, chairs, tables, PA equipment. In a couple of photos you can see the fence behind the painted fence that now marks the closest that people on the US side can come to see relatives on the Mexican side. So sad. And the US wants to make the wall 30 feet higher and solid! It's depressing and simply insane.
